My gosh, Larson, that is so neat! Your finds are absolutely astounding :o :o to me! The ground conditions must be perfect for those things to survive like that. Just think, that thing combed some beautiful indian girls'(or boys) hair.

Could very well be. But they did gather plant fibers & wove things with it. Could it have been involved in that operation ? Once the fibers were soaked-&-scutched out, they had to be combed straight before twisting them into something like yarn -- I think.

they also made a lot of fishing line
I guess we will never know for sure
 

Very, very cool Comb larson. That's the one thing I have never seen on our Ft Ancient sites, not even a piece.

I have only seen one before. It was drilled to be worn around the neck. Very nice find.
