My gosh, Larson, that is so neat! Your finds are absolutely astounding to me! The ground conditions must be perfect for those things to survive like that. Just think, that thing combed some beautiful indian girls'(or boys) hair.

Could very well be. But they did gather plant fibers & wove things with it. Could it have been involved in that operation ? Once the fibers were soaked-&-scutched out, they had to be combed straight before twisting them into something like yarn -- I think.
