Saw an add by the Perth Mint for a Barbie's 50th. anniversary,1oz. silver proof coin, for about $100,and I'm just wondering if these (commemorative coins),are worth it.

As an investment, NO not in my opinion. If you want some now just to know you own them it depends on how much you want to spend. A hunderd dollars of an ounce of silver is kinda high when spot price of silver is near $17.00

IMHO, No. Just ask any of the thousands of Franklin Mint collectors who bought original issues in the 70s if you want another similar opinion.

I would not invest in anything made to be commerative since about 1964. You want the ones that were normal circulation but in the best shape you can find. Those are what appreciate in value (everyone saves the commerative types - of anything).

Thanks Everybody.
