Whats this worth?

on ebay you could get $200.00 to $400.00 happy bidding

First of all, On eBay you won't find one of these. Secondly, take a look at this:

Louisiana Belt Plate - New Orleans Style

Our Price: $4450
Louisiana Belt Plate - New Orleans Style recovered in central Virginia.

Depicts pelican surrounded by border with initials "NO". This pattern has been traced to the famed "Washington Artillery" unit of New Orleans.

Die stamped brass plate with soldered on hooks missing as typical on dug examples. Attractive well struck example with minor rim nicks. Measures 57x84mm. Ref: Mullinax Plate 290.

Order/Inquire about this item.

So please quit insulting me.

Don't think anyone was trying to insult you, just giving their opinion. Seems you already found your answer.

It is what ever someone will pay obviously. You asked the question people gave their opinions Yours is a dug example with damage. Harry Ridgeway has some but not like yours for around 4000 but they are in better shape. I would have yours professionally restored.

Hey.

If you already decided what it is worth, Why are asking ? :unhappysmiley:

People continuously quote Book Prices & rarity comments.

as for "Our Price:" comments in adds ,
I could start a business selling eggs, post "Our Price: $100.00 a dozen"
doesn't make it worth it. just means, you want it from me, You pay it :laughing7:
(& at that price I won't have to be worried about getting egged on Halloween.)

as Tnmountains said
Yours is a dug example with damage.

apparently Banner worthy  & you have your price, but others may not,
& do not, have to agree 8-)

I've seen it listed from $3600 to 4500 dollars. This one appears to be in way better shape, and it doesn't have any cracks. I'll post a photo of the back.

Why are you asking?

Why ask the question, when you already knew the answer

yea I honestly wouldn't be able to put an Actual Buyers Price on something like that.

of Course If I had found it, I wouldn't mind getting 4 grand for it
but if I was offered 4 Hundred I'd snap it up.
whether I'd be ripping myself off by doing so, I don't know.
But that's just how i am with most Found items.

Anyway I hope he was offered an amount he would settle for

what I don't understand is, why would you want to sell it ? stuff like that gets mounted and displayed. just my opinion, but history should be cherished, not sold, and that is one piece of history I'd love to find and display. but hey to each his/her own.

if your asking me.. I think it's just that :

#1. I'm not a Big Civil war fan.
maybe because the Civil war wasn't close to me
#2. Like a $100.00 Bill is just a piece of paper with a dead president on it
if not spent.
So the Plate if found by Me would just be another item to put in my display.
and Hopefully one day make me or someone else a few bucks.
#3. I do Love the History behind everything I find, But I value a Broken Aluminum
Bubble Gum machine Ring as much as a 3 Karat Diamond ring.
Only Difference

this is Me with the crushed Bubble Gum Ring
