I had another great day on the water today. It was amazing that I was waist deep and still sweating like crazy. Hot! I took a few more underwater shots for you guys. I really like them and hope you do too.

First up is a group shot of my better finds. The pocket watch is full of split shot. When I first found it I though it might be gold coins in there! :'(

Next is an in-situ of the Read shell. I fanned some of the overburden from it and this is what I saw.

And here it is placed on a rock

I turned around and this was staring at me. At first I thought some sort of alien being, but soon realized it was just a creepy snapping turtle skull.

Here I am as happy as can be...

Here is a a Connecticut copper I found at a ford...

I also found another bullet sinker. This one is made out of a Civil War Savage bullet (or so I believe)....

And finally a piece of case shot. I found several of them today...

Thanks for making it to the end!

Those underwater pics are sweet. Detectin' in the water is about the only way i'd want to be doing it the past few days around here during the day.

Re: Confederate Reed artillery shell and a creepy skull...

nice shell! I have a turtle skull I found too, they're pretty neat. I wonder what the USMC Sharpshooter badge was doing there with all the CW relics.....

Re: Confederate Reed artillery shell and a creepy skull...

You have one serious sweet-ass site, kills me that I grew up in MD, and never did any serious detecting.
Keep that place secret!

Those are great finds. I love that pocket watch.

Would you recommend an 8" or 10" coil for water hunting???
I am intersested in trying this out.

Re: Confederate Reed artillery shell and a creepy skull...

very nice finds. Have always wanted to do some underwater detecting, but I've always been afraid I'd drop my detector, ol

Re: Confederate Reed artillery shell and a creepy skull...

Really outstanding. Gather the depth of the water is not deep? Think you mentioned that once before but I have forgotten what was said. When I was a sheriff's office dive team member back in the late seventies and early eighties, I wish we had possessed an underwater detector so I could have gotten interested in this hobby much earlier. However most of what we were searching for was human. In any case, keep up the great finds.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. And thanks for the ID on the Marine Corps Badge. I'm ex-Army and thought it looked a little different. @ CF... both my CZ-20 and 21 have the 10" coil and I thought I couldn't live without it. BUT... since using the Garret AT Pro with the stock coil, I'm not so sure a smaller coil on the CZ might have been better. My true love is shell hunting, and the 10" coil was certainly very effective for that. @ smittyw... the water depth at this particular spot is only up to about four feet, I do dive as well and will be starting that up in a few weeks. As for finding bodies... yeah about that, been there, done that, don't want to do it again. @ civilman1 D'OH!... "Read"

Dude, I'm the worst and sloppiest speller. Without a doubt you will see me post about the "Civel War" at some time. My brain says if it sounds like a duck... close enough :tongue3:
