Greetings T-Net Nation- I got out today for three hours of detecting in another new spot in the woods. No trails, no stone walls, and no cellar holes. However, it was close to an area that I've posted about in recent weeks that produced several colonial era finds...so I gave it a shot. The first few targets were pretty standard. Lots of headstamps, shell casings and lead. One hour in to the hunt I stumbled over a deep sounding "84" VDI on my Deus II. Turned out to be a King Ferdinand VI Spanish half real with a Madrid mintmark:
Without question, this is the sharpest looking real that I have ever found:
As mentioned, other finds included the normal junk, and an apothacary bottle that reads: "Thomas F. Delaney Apothacary, Beverly, MA" This was a surface find, and I'll need to do some research to determine its age. That's the news for today. Thanks for looking and HH!
