Yesterday I went to a new park that I found in Bergen county New Jersey, the history of the park dates back to 1800 after almost two hours of digging every signal this is what I left with.

If i didnt dig every hole I never would have found the indian heads or the Connecticut cent.

My camera phone really sucks and my digital camera is broken so I know the pics aren't the best.
The conn. cent is pretty much toasted theres no date but the outline of the face and there are double lines on the lower bottom of the reverse seems like the only one that had double lines was a 1785 version..hard to get an exact match up.

The 1827 large cent is in great shape I cleaned it up a little more , the date on the other is completely toasted.
The barber is my favorite find of the day though because both front and back look brand new full liberty and everything!
As for the button I'm just guessing that its colonial era I really have no clue I never really saw anything like it seems like thick solid copper very heavy it honestly may not be a button at all.

looking forward to going back next weekend..i had to leave early because the plastic piece that connects to my coil just snapped randomly

Wait until you find a 1787! lol

Very cool coins.super nice.

Other years had a double date bar if that is what you are referring to? If so it could be any of the years they were produced.

Great day, congrats on your finds...

Great hunt..well worth the back pain after digging every signal:occasion14:

Jeez, you did awesome! Putting me to shame!

Nice digs--will give you a shout regarding a hunt.

i only noticed 1785 in the book i have, where are you looking so i can check it out

I have the Whitman book on colonials, but I also have Conn Coppers found of all the years and I just found one last month, an 1788 and that one has double lines. You can find photos of some of the years on the Coinfacts site and the Notre Dame site. Also Heritage auction sites, and Stacks archived auctions.

Attaching a photo of the 1788 I found last month and the double lines are quite easy to see.

Looks like you found a park that has some virgin ground. HIT IT FROM EVERY DIRECTION when you get your lower shaft fixed! The one thing I have learned this year is that going from different directions over the same ground yields finds I thought there was no way I could've missed! I had always heard this but really experienced on 3 yards this year! Good luck I envy your site: you have many more good finds coming!
