Consciousness, Brain, THETA, & "Night Classes"

I was taught the understandings of the mind, as through this manuscript, from around the age of 12, by the man who actually brought it back from Turkey with his best friend. There was another codex also, Yonan codex, if I'm not mistaken.

It is helpful, imho, to realize that the mind is a tool, and if one allows it to do, what it is designed to do, life can be a lot less stressfull. The brain is designed to keep stress and anxiety at reduced or acceptable levels (free will sure can mess that up though).

In fact, the man who brought this manuscript back, started some of his studies with POW's of the Korean war.

eta: Crispin, I also have a pdf file about how all this came about; the bio on the man who brought this manuscript back, what caused him to seek these things, etc..... it may be helpful to you, in your work with Vets.

Thank you, I have forgotten my manners. I have decided to read about ten pages or so a night so I can process a bit at a time. So far I am familiar with a lot of the experiments that were done on cats. It amazes what me what research was allowed to be preformed 40 years ago. None of that stuff would be allowed to occur today. I was also amazed at how accurate they were with some of the neuronal theories for the time period. Especially without the use of fMRI or PET scan. I will have time to read another ten or so pages tonight and will post before I go to bed.

Thanks again, I prefer word files as opposed to video. I have always learned that way.

WorldTalker: Since I talking to you about meditation I have advised two different patients to look into it for different anxiety issues. Can you give me the name of a good book for people who know nothing about meditation? It needs to be fairly simple and basic. A lot of people have a stigma associated with meditation. Some people just get flashes of Buddha sitting under a silk tree and are turned off. I have started explaining it in terms of mindfulness instead of meditation and I have been getting a warmer reception.

Crispin, not meaning to butt in here, I have found to study and concentrate on ones' own chakras, can help a person discern their own hearts and intentions, bring inner peace and comfort, and calm the mind. One can also incorporate 'yoga" into these studies.

One can read read read all day about something. To put it into application and "do it" is usually hindered by reading. This book gives practical knowledge that one can apply in the stillness and quietness of their "alone time" (which many people seem to have way too much of, in this world today. Many are lonely).

Imho, I do feel to study these things (mindfullness of self), the chakras, allows one to be their own reflection, judge, and jury.
No man can be the judge of anothers' heart. Only the person, looking at themselves, knows himself better than anyone. (And true that, it does help to have a higher enlightened soul to follow, makes the path easier, than going it alone).
I would recco (and I hate the title of it); Chakras for Dummies, by Betsy Rippentrop and Eve Adamson.

PTC: Thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out for personal interest. However, you have to remember the stigma I deal with. If mention a word like "Chakra" they will immediately tune me out and find another doctor. I have enough trouble with the word 'mediation.' I'm working the 'mindfulness' angle and getting better results there.

I read the next ten pages or so. Remarkably similar to cognitive psychology. Kind of makes me think somebody missed the paradigm boat back in the 70's. I'm very familiar with a lot of that. I stopped for the night at paranoia...figured that would be a good place to pick up tomorrow. That is if you all agree to stop tapping my phone line and get the little cameras out of my house.

On a serious note for a change which is not my forte as you've probably figured out by now....many years ago I asked a psychologist what the root cause of anxiety was.....I told him not to give me the psycho babble version but a layman's explanation.....

His explanation was compare the human psyche to a gas tank of a car.....if you overfill the tank with to much emotion, stress, etc...it overflows and manifests itself as anxiety or a similar reaction....that's where the meditation or whatever you call it comes into play.....it allows for a healthy release of that overflow....

Well now,I highly suggest this primer to meditation,I like the term 'observation' better,it is in text as well as audio,I prefer the audio though. GodBless Chris How Your Mind Will Make You Well

I had read some books back in the 1970's by Alexander Lowen, MD....doctor and psychologist so his books fit into the medical field rather than a mystical approach.....maybe your patients would buy into his approach easier than the Eastern philosophy approach.

Not sure if his books are still in print.....but believe he set up a foundation prior to his death in 2008.

I had read some books back in the 1970's by Alexander Lowen, MD....doctor and psychologist so his books fit into the medical field rather than a mystical approach.....maybe your patients would buy into his approach easier than the Eastern philosophy approach.

Not sure if his books are still in print.....but believe he set up a foundation prior to his death in 2008.

PCL'S UNITE! I have several books by Dr. Lowen; I was impressed with his Bio-energetics work. AND! The works of Wilhelm Reich, N. Tesla... ALL "connected"!
