From teachings, observations, and lessons, taken and practiced from many years ago, up till today. Not arguing, but where did you get the number of stimuli from?
Basically, the brain being a tool of the body, it's main function is to keep stress and anxieties at reduced or acceptable levels. Incoporating the systems and sub-systems of the brain, man converts percepted stimuli, into electrical charges which pass over the neural pathways. The sub-conscious may be able to take in vast amounts of stimuli, but the conscious brain is only capable of handling, sorting, or dealing with, 7 to 10 parts of perceived stimuli effectivly. Correct me, if I am wrong here, as to your knowledge please. (I will have to do much searching, to find ref's and sources)
With the brain emitting .002 volts(is it? maybe .02), when too much is taken in, one refers to it, as being brain fried.

Rebel, I may be mistaken, consciousness requires a brain? I thought cnsciousness just "is", and our brain was the reducer or inhibitor. Thus nde's or experiences such as your own.
