Considering Sea Hunter Mark II and Surf Pro PI

In the quest for a water machine I was wondering what you all thought of the Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II and the Whites Surf Pro PI. I have also considered the Excalibur. While the price of the Excalibur don't really bother much, the other two is much more appealing price wise, after all the extra money could buy some worth while accessories.

if your choice is one of those three, go with the excalibur... no questions about it. Yes it is a bit more expensive, but believe me (and a lot of others here) it is well worth it. I've had a few different water machines, and several land as well. Since I got my first Excal a few years ago, I've barely used my DFX or surfmaster PI. (I sold the surfmaster pi about a year ago).

If you're specifically doing only beach hunting, the only other "accessory" you really need is a good scoop.

You will recover more rings with the Excal!!! While the PI's are cheaper to buy, they will waste more of your time digging deep holes for trash while the guy or gal with the Excal ignores iron an finds more rings just by covering more ground which raises their percentages.

As Steve said, all you really need is good scoop too.

It depends on where you want to hunt. The PI's will find a lot of everything but can be a real waste of time/air if you are diving. There is less traash in the surf as opposed to the beach so a PI will do well for you. The Excal is still the best out there for overall hunting and you can use it anywhere with trash discrimination also. If you need help with your purchase please let me know.

Just got a PI Pro, and after a couple of weeks, I agree with posts above that discrimination capability would be really nice. Upside: The PI Pro hits on everything. But that also means I've dug up the smallest junk that I've ever seen, two or three times a day I'm chasing targets that ring like crazy but appear to be invisible... tiny shards of wire, little metal shavings and stuff like that. Downside: without the discrimination I've got to dig up everything... so, I'm well on my way to the absurd goal of filling a five gallon bucket with bottlecaps.
Bottom line: if cost isn't an issue go for the one that can ignore the junky stuff.
