Cool Decrative Horseshoe!

I found this metal detecting today around an old dump. Everything in the dump was from around 1870-1940. I have never seen anything like this before. Any info is appreciated.

Cool Find, I have seen Door Knockers and Ashtrays that Resemble this. Just a guess. HH

Pretty cool,, you have to mount it with the ends pointing up or all the good luck will run out.

You know - you might be right bobby5! I searched everything and couldn't find one similar - when I searched on "Horseshoe" and "Ashtray" I got a bunch of hits. Here are a few that follow the same configuration - but with "crossed coal shovels" as opposed to a "horse".

metaldetecta - maybe the "shovels" relates to a coal mine...

Thank you all for the help! I never would have thought it was an ashtray. I thought a door knocker at first too, but I think an ashtray makes more sense because there is nowhere to hang it. Thanks for the pic vpnavy!
