Last weekend my brother, a hunting buddy, and I were out scouting a new site for bottle dumps in New Jersey. We found a number of late 19th to early 20th century bottles in a stream that flows into a local river. We followed it up to a flat area and found the original dump and an old stone and mortar foundation. Brambles were sticking all over us. Today we brought out the detectors and turned up some interesting stuff. We hit a few pennies and then out popped a nice seated liberty 1858 half dime. First half dime we ever found. What a rush. A little bit later, slightly deeper in the woods we turned up a musket ball and what looks like a crushed musket ball and a flattened musket ball. We have no idea on the other items. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nice work! The thing on the bottom is part of a pewter spoon, of course. The object to the right of the penny looks like half of a button that was made to look like a silver 3 cent piece. Great assortment here.

Nice finds. Those half dimes are really popping out of the ground today

Congrats on the half-dime! That's a great assortment of relics, too.

I have something like that 'NAB' thing. My first thought about mine was a punch-out plug from an old electrical box, but it could be a cloth seal?

thanks for the replies guys.

Admiral de Salee - I just realized it say's NAB as well. I took the finds over to the historics expert at my archaeo firm and your guess was right. They said - lead seal placed on a string (not 100% though). Another guy said electric meter. Lot of help, huh, with the fifty fitfty from the so called experts at the old co.

The Iron thing is a hinge that was attached to a door - that was 100%.

No solid ideas on the other buggers though. I am going back out on Sunday to see what elese turns up.

thanks again.
