Coopers Treasure - Discovery

OH !.

I do have another "doubt" to add to Ropesfish's...

The "chart"...
That chart has no "age" to it.

In other words... it looks like a recent chart.

The "feel" of it looked off to me.

The wrong quote got attached. I was responding to the vhf switch post

I joined this site just to respond to you. You're on the right track. Everyone is focusing on photography or the cover story he told his wife. The word anomaly was used. Pictures from his altitude wouldn't produce anomalies. Producing an image from metal detection sounds more like an anomaly. I think it's safe to say that Gordon Cooper was the first American spy satellite the United States launched into orbit. I hate to disappoint the naysayers but Darrell Miklos is going to find billions before it's over. He will find several wrecks based on Coopers data. I'm just puzzled while Gordon Cooper didn't act on his best source of capital when he spent a great deal of his life searching for investors for his aviation ventures.

from space in 1963 .....you could easily see large reef areas along the known treasure fleet routes and by linking that along with treasure fleet loss records from Spanish archives ..... you get a treasure fleet road map with "known" high risk areas where vessels might hit reefs or wreck in shallow waters ..by cross matching the data you could make a :rough" map of high probability treasure wreck site areas ...,

" Pictures from his altitude wouldn't produce anomalies."

Sure they could.

My interest level increased ten fold when Eric decided to join in. Prior to that, it was merely curiosity.

I'm travelling so did not see the chart mentioned - but was it this one?

The Discovery Channel Reality TV formula is now pretty mature and well worked-out. It blends certain credible facts with a heavy dose of dramatization and hamming-it-up for entertainment value.

Don't put too much stock in it. This is not a documentary.

Show is definitely gaining momentum & credibility as it goes. Darrell's like a different person on the boat. Confident, strong leader, has crew's respect (from what we can see). Becoming a fun ride (was agonizing to start).

Getting better ! And they're ACTUALLY FINDING SOMETHING ! I'll stick around for a while longer now ! They pull a single coin or piece of jewelry from that site , I'll be hooked !

BVI... that screen pic of the chart doesn't even look like the same as the one he (dad) took from the kitchen cabinet... hmmm. ? ? ?

Perhaps I mislooked... ? ? ?

The one he removed from the kitchen cabinet looked too "crispy" ):/

Too "newish" is what I am trying to say... did nothave the "passed around / handled look... this picture you have posted looks "more" like a chart of some "era"... even has some stains...

And "fits" ... so I am not sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me... or ?...

OR they "staged" a chart for the "drama"... or ?

It was supposed to be a grappling hook.

They found 2 halves of a barrel hoop on the first starred location. The whole premise of the show is that they are supposedly following up on locations Gordon Cooper identified from space.

He saw a barrel hoop and a grappling hook? No ballast piles?

Yea Blame "Oldtimers :laughing7:" I meant 3 Grappling hooks , But couldn't remember that word at the Moment :coffee2:

And tonight is already the season finale?
Must have been a short test run to check ratings.

Really ? :( I didn't notice that :(

was another good show tonight.
not a bunch of Screw ups to drag things out, like other shows.

The anchor looked so much older and bigger once they pulled it out the water.

only thing that bugged me is they will return it to it's original position at the bottom after they are done measuring etc.

I'd be p.o.'d !

if I brought it up, it would be mine to display, or sell or I wouldn't even go hunt for it. there would be no Archi on my Boat either.
they can be glad I'm a Landlubber :laughing7:

the fact they must return it, makes me wonder if they didn't find it.
and that it was a well known relic in protected waters. (like under water National Park ?)
that they were given coordinates to for the show :dontknow:.
and just pretended cooper had anything at all to do with it's discovery.

I think you might be on to something Jeff. If this show is staged for ratings, that would be a total letdown.

I didn't see anything about a finale? What I do hate is how DC decides to add shows together, call it a new episode when in fact it is just the last 2 weeks combined. My DVR has like 13 episodes on it?!?! I believe they have had only like 5 shows...

Don't really like Darrel or his dad. I do like the underwater detecting! Looks so cool!
