I found these on some old prospecting holes. The rock appears to be an iron formation. Do you think the green and purple colors are indicative of copper, or just iron oxidation?

That appears to be Bornite~ peacock ore :) The prospector probably dug on the color and after a dolly of the ore decided it had no value. Kind of a fools gold like pyrite but pretty stuff.

Bornite can be scratched with a knife, try it. :)
