Hello Everyone. I found this copper or brass plate a couple of months ago thinking it was a piece of scrap metal. Today I noticed what appeared to be some writing on it. I did a little cleaning to the plate and sure enough, there is something written in an elegant font. I cannot decipher what it says or if it is even written in English. I have included several pictures including one with a filter applied to make the letters pop. Can any of you decipher what this plate says? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for looking!

Just held it up to the mirror and POW! What appears to be "Mrs. Nernon Bromn". Perhaps I am reading it wrong. Vernon Brown would make more sense but it certainly doesn't look like that to me. What does everyone think? I would love to return this to the family!

It appears to be an old engraving plate for printing.

Most likely used for thank you cards, invitations, and stationary. My guess is that Mrs. Bromn was a well to do woman, or was married to someone in the printing trade.

I found this 2 weeks ago. It's a plate from the Toronto Telegram, which became The Sun in 1971. The artist/cartoonist is John Yardley-Jones.
