Was just hunting my side yard here in southwestern PA and my E-trac rang up a solid 12-46 and I dug up this coin that looks like a Spanish Reale. It weighs 6.2 grams and is about 1.3mm thick. No seam around the edges.
Is there someone on the forum here that can help me figure out if it is real? Don't know who scratch the cross in the kings face (guessing that's king somebody), wasn't me. My previous oldest coin was 1945, if real this one blow the 1945 away. Thanks in advance!

I think it may be a 2 reales (dos reales ) I think I'm seeing 2R on the reverse . Nice find ! it appears to be genuine.

Great save !
Yes, it's a 2R from Potosi, Bolivia. The series was minted during the period 1773-1789; within the term of the assayer "PR" (1776-1795). Originally, it weighed about 6.77 grams and, if authentic, is composed of .903 pure silver (.193 oz. ASW)
Don...

Yeap, someone else in the past thought the same as you & tested it by scratching it. (to see if it was plated) Nice coin!

Nice! Gold is always good!

It just looks like gold because I am a terrible photographer. In natural light, it is silver.

congrats on the nice find!!

Nice find, esp in your own yard ! I'd go out and dig it up every peep.
