Had a quick hunt this morning out on Eastern LI. I didn't have the energy to go the the spot I wanted out on an island, but I did hit another spot I had in my back pocket.

I didn't have a signal for about 2 hrs. I followed my game plan and upon nearing the actual home location I had a penny signal. Out popped a KG1 ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324237.371413.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324249.675626.webpi think it's been counter-stamped?

Nearby I found buckle guts

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324336.666127.webpand about an hour later out popped a shoe buckle frame.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324352.553880.webpIn the root cellar I found a barber dime. I thought it was going to be older so I snapped a picImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324375.418203.webp

Finally some more gutsImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1463324396.875911.webp

I hunted from 6:30-10, and now it's time to go find some oysters at low tide.

Congrats on another successful hunt Steve. Love to see the old coppers you dig. The Barber is more likely a coin for me to find here in Ohio. I also like the buckle pieces.

Thanks Loco. I wasn't quite expecting to see a KG pop out of the ground, maybe a KG3 which just goes to show. - ya never know! Some guy over by you dug a capped half...

Nice early copper my friend! I'm also a big fan of anything to do with shoe buckles so I'm loving the parts and pieces. Those KG1's are a very tough find in my neck of the woods. Guessing it's the same in most places. Hope you get some nice long hunts real soon buddy

Thx Abe. Those KGs don't come up by me often either. This is the second KG I've dug, along with one Woods Hibernia. They're just not too common on our side of the pond. Enjoy today bud, remember to drink your RedBulll;)

Very well done Scrappy! I like the shoe buckle guts, even th9ough, I am a coin guy at heart.

Best of luck to you brother!

Glad to see you're still out swinging Steve, and making some nice finds in the process. I'm really jealous man ....

Thx Bill. KG "1's" are getting back there. I believe the home site mapped (c. 1780's), about 50' away, was built upon an earlier home site, which is where I dug the KG. I also believe that shoe buckle frame is on the earlier side as well. There's rubble right there by the finds that has me thinking. Anyway.

I'm guessing the fields are out, but when do you plan on jumping in the water? I enjoy the Bill D 2.0 summer finds.

Great hunt Steve. That is an old site. I bet that Barber dime had you going for a sec. That has happened to me twice with Barber dimes on Colonial sites.

Love the shoe buckle Steve! Can't imagine what it's like not getting a signal for 2 hours. I would go nuts, but that's why you get the old stuff and I get the Mercs instead :)

Yep, those that dig colonial understand the frustration of digging modern silver. It's happened to me several times. People have gotten angry on here after my expressing being less-than-thrilled about digging a barber, after digging only colonial.

Ah well, some day I'll be lucky enough to dig a banner worthy 2R! Lol

Nice digs scrappy. Did the kids eat the oysters or just you
I'll bet you were up the crack of dawn , I mean up AT that crack of dawn
You know what I mean like up really really early
Before the birds even
Great job on those finds hh gl

Nice finds. I jealous of the guts. I find a lot of buckle frames, but no guts. I think you're right on the KGI id.

Nice finds Scrappy. The KGIs usually hold up a little better than that underground. A little bit of work and you'll have yourself a couple complete shoe buckles...or nearly anyway.

Good mornings work, an old copper, a silver, and a few relics.

Yep, it was a long time. That's what I was referring to when I mentioned "sticking to my game plan". I had a plan of attack and stuck to it. I think that always helps. Thx for looking

Thanks Don. Funny thing is I dig more guts than frames! Haha

If that's the case then you should take a look at my other KG1. Unfortunately soil conditions at most of my sites is bad, causing quite a bit of corrosion. This KG was at least readily identifiable. Anyway, thanks for looking man

I take it you have access to some Long Island Property. Good for you.
Congrats

Thanks DD. It was on my bucket list until last Fall. Since then I've found 2, along with a woods Hibernia. Funny how quickly things can change! That said, you'll have yours soon judging from the old dirt you dig. Good luck man

Thanks AGW. Having grown up on the South Fork, I have many connections that can get me into some great places. Too bad I seldom visit.

Cheers

Congrats on the finds! I've found colonial buckle frames, but never any "guts" that were intact. Got to admit, you've redefined the hunting experience for me when you throw in the oyster hunt at the end! Great way to end a great day!
