I found something different today. The coin is my favorite find. Didn't expect to find it, because I didn't use my metal detector. I didn't clean it yet, think I will need some tips on this one.

good night that's a nice coin! i hope you didn't use any harsh abrasives on it.

Thanks. I soaked it in olive oil for few days. I also give the coin lemon juice bath and I use cotton balls to wipe the nasty stuff off

What a great save. Amazing!

Last year I found a Seated half that was thick and brown,,,almost threw it away,,it sat on the desk for about a week before it caught my attention again. I picked up my loop and was looking at it,and realized it had a reeded edge ! Aftermuch soakin ,out came a very worn 1877 seated half with a CC mintmark, I almost threw away my first seated coin and my first CC mint. Congrats on your half !!!! :headbang: it is sweet !!! 8-) I would just freak if I found something that old !

What an awesome find in your own basement no less. What year was your house built? I'd be down there with my 5" sniper coil - or better yet a shovel and sifter.

The house was build circa 1700 . It's not my house, but lucky me, I can do some stuff in the basement.

Great recovery! That is easily a $100+ coin.

Nice coin.. looks like it was near the surface exposed to the air ..I would want to detect there too!!
