This is a continuation of our winter CRH for Illinois members. I thought it would be nice to break these off clean for the new year 2009, and do one each month... as the past thread was already getting quite full of posts and pictures. It's a little much to load it all.

For the past thread, visit here:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,205204.0.html

Now keep the great finds coming for 2009! Don't forget, if you didn't pick it up from the bank in the new year then it still counts for last year. That's the informal rule though, roll your own if you wanna.

I plan on getting out to some various banks this weekend to get the ball rolling... hope you guys do great this year!

The funny thing was, even if it was a skunk box I was gonna post it. I was gonna just hunt out in my car but I couldn't find a place for the camera to get the shots so I just went home. For a split second I was just gonna say screw it and not make the video, but I'm sure glad I went home and got that box on tape!!! Especially with the Walking Liberty!!!! I guess the only thing better would be if I found a Barber half in that box. :tongue3:

If you found a barber half, I would have to come over to your place... kick you in the shins and call you a bad man! Then snatch your barber and run away laughing!!! :D

That would be the ultimate! I would just pass out if I got a seated half.

Very awexome you got that on tape!

My First Dream Box of Dimes (Video)

It was cold out today and I thought there's no way I'm going out again after yesterday being so bad (today was supposed to be even colder). So what better way to smooth over your MD depression than to swing by the bank and pick up some dimes. I grabbed 4 boxes of dimes and $50 in loose half rolls and then it was, "HOME JEEVES!"

I opened the first box of dimes and the magic started to unroll before my very eyes.

The first roll had 3 silver dimes in it, which up to this point I had only ever gotten 3 silver dimes in an entire box. Right away I thought this is either going to really good, or the next 49 rolls were going to take forever to unwrap.

The second roll had 4 silver dimes in it, and I knew I had a Dream Box in my hands.

Awesome! Hang on to that goose poop dime, waterfowl excrement-encrusted currency is a high commodity these days!

Keep it up!

Joe

p.s. In contrast to your superb finds, I spent just over two hours today hunting the woods to find a 1920 wheat cent.

Congrats TreasureFiend! Gotta like getting a merc along with those other silvers. Are you going to clean up the merc?

I finally got around to checking the other 3 boxes of dimes. The second box only had one silver rosie in it, but the 3rd box had 19 more! Needless to say I was ready to open box 4 to see if my luck would continue or end. Well it ended as box 4 was a skunk. Can't complain one bit with 83 silvers from 3 boxes!

Holy smokes TF! Congrats on some awexome luck!!! You got a taste of what a dream box feels like, but then again that Barber all by itself is a dream come true.

Looks a little thin there Fiend, wonder how many pockets and purses it's seen since it was first let loose!

Got another 4 boxes of dimes and here's the breakdown... sorry no pics as I'm too lazy today:

BOX #1
Stinky Skunk

BOX #2
3 Rosies - 1950-P, 1950-P, 1964-P

BOX #3
1 Merc - 1941-P

BOX #4
Stinky Skunk

1 per box average I guess ain't too crappy I guess :) MUCH better than a 4 box skunk... or worse. Love that I found a Merc again in the middle of a snowy weekend!
