The whole camp is more or less on the surface.
This guy had moved into the canyon about 50 yards from the main cliff, and made camp.
The canyon has a deeper ravine in the center where the creek runs (when it runs) angrily.
The bedrock is about 2 to 4 inches under the soil. So almost all of this is on the surface.
Yes we did take the MD in to find the possible covered up things.
Am thinking that we need to start looking for the cache of armor and other goodies.
The removal of the bridle parts was an obvious attempt to be more quiet as the horse went down the canyon, this territory was hostile country to the Spanish. Noisy equipment was never a friend. LOL
Going to have to see what happens between now and then,
am sure it is going to work out though. Have anoyher friend coming out the 15th.
haven't seen in ages. maybe all three of us can go.
The fun part is on....
We are getting the time worked out to go do a systematic search of the canyon.
We will use detectors and see if there isn't an armor stash somewhere close.
The Paiutes were prevalent here and all indications were that this camp was where an attempt was made to reduce the amount of noise made while moving through the canyon.
Found some really cool rim fire 44 or 45 cal shells in here as well.
