Last few times out found a lot of odd finds. Found 3 shield nickels in two different places. Although they are toasted, they don't come up that often. Also came up with 2 more 2 cent pieces the same day. Makes 5 so far this year. A bit odd as it's more than I found over the last 35 years. Picked up a 1787 draped bust facing left CT yesterday. Obverse is a bit toasted, but the reverse isn't too bad. I've been detecting places that have really been pounded and picking up the tougher finds. Most of the silver has been found as it's the first to go, but I can't complain with what I found. A lof of these finds are on many bucket lists. Still think the CTX is an amazing machine. One of the guys with me on Saturday had an Etrac and picked up an Indian and V nickel. One was using a Deus and only found clad. That's when I found 4 Indians, 2 two cent pieces and one of the shield nickels. The 1860 British farthing came out the same day as 2 shield nickels, 2 V nickels and an Indian.

Beautiful. Save some of that copper for the rest of us Don!

Congrats on the nice CT and the others.

Congrats on getting the assortment of coppers, you're picking them off especially the 2 cent pieces.

Cool finds, nice......

Great hunt...the goodies are coming out now...

As usual, spectacular coins. Congrats on the really nice finds. Envious...

You're on a pretty good copper roll! One of these days you're going to get one in sweet condition.... or maybe ID condition. :)

Wow, super hunt !

Nice digs Don!! Yes people, I was the guy with the Deus, been using it almost exclusively for a year now. Yes it is a great machine but on all occasions during club hunts the Minelab users came up with the older/deeper coins amongst trash than I did. This hunt on Saturday I purposely used the Deus side by side with Don using a CTX3030 and Charles using the E-Trac and the proof is in their finds verses mine. My Thread from last night (3 Mercs and War Nickel) show the silver I found in a small area I have already pounded with the Deus, using different program settings on the Deus, and my Minelab located the deep silver within two hours. Hmmmmm.... Happy Hunting

Nice variety of old coins. Did they come from a field? The ones i field dig around here look like those because of the fertilizers.

Mike, they came from the woods, an old park and the CT came from the yard of a house built in the 1770's. Coppers from fields can be really corroded and I've yet to ever find a decent shield nickel. Even V nickels usually come out poor although slightly better. One area I've been lucky is a number of my 2 cent pieces have come out ok.

Some very good finds there Don, Yeah 2 X 2 centers in one dig is pretty rare. I got one, not too corroded, but very worn.
