Made plans Saturday to make a rather long drive to the site where I found the 1797 dime back in July. Unfortunately the farmer preferred that we not dig in his pasture. I guess he didn't want us to kill any of his already dead grass 
So we went to a well hunted French and Indian War site nearby for about an hour. I only got one button - a French & Indian War vent hole button - and a musket ball. My buddy Tom dug a well worn farthing and this nice silver 1750's octagonal cuff link. Probably worn by an officer. We then went to a well hunted, iron infested, house site. The grass was too high at this place, but we gave it a try for about an hour. I dug a pewter button and a set of oval cuff links with some type of floral design. Not a very productive day, but it was still nice to get out despite the dry, hard ground conditions.
UPDATE 9-15-10: What I thought was just a floral design on my oval cufflinks has been identified as a pair of love birds sitting on a tree branch. You can see this if you look at the link on the right, which is oriented properly. I think that 4-H may have noticed this when he mentioned that cuff links with animals are highly collectible. What do you guys think, love birds??
