Glock in 9mm or larger with defensive ammo. Remember your first goal is to stop the threat, not piss him off

I carry a Hi-point 9mm...(when hunting/night/etc.) It's cheap to replace, fires well, and lifetime warranty. Mine went through a house fire after owning for 2 years and they took mine in and sent me a new one...LIFETIME WARRANTY/CHEAP...

I own a Hi-Point 9mm as well...great pistol and made in America too. The lifetime warranty covers it even if you are not the original owner. Can't beat that!

All you gun guys and gals, I was and still am with you. I've been pro-2nd long before I got whacked

My Second Amendment stance did NOT protect me from ambush. What good does it do to carry when we wake up wondering where and who we are?

On the beach I wear swim trunks and a t shirt
Where do you conceal it?

Well Jeff, I feel your pain. Maybe a smaller caliber concealed in a place they're not supposed to look?

Edit? Stuff it up your butt?

Anyone who wakes up wondering where and who they are shouldn't be carrying a gun in the first place.... Just sayin.

Glock 43 in a plastic sandwich bag always works well for me.:headbang:

Whenever I'm detecting, be it park or beach, my favorite is a Smith and Wesson Airlite 8 shot .22LR Revolver. Fits in the front pocket of my shorts and since it's light and compact it doesn't "print" and it's easy to get to. Ask any emergency room physician about how a .22 "tumbles" thru your guts as opposed to a larger Caliber going straight thru. When I'm not detecting my favorite Carry is a single stack Glock Model 43 in 9mm. Last, but not least, if I'm detecting for gold in the mountains where there are Bears I like a .357 revolver. Functions much better than an Auto if I get it dirty.

I always carry a .380 when detecting. I also rarely use headphones if I'm alone, but more often than not I have my pup with me and he's a very nice deterrent for anyone coming too close. He also lets me know if anybody or another animal is around.

I also wear a vest when detecting that is great for carrying concealed either with a shoulder holster or in a pocket. It's open carry here too, so if the firearm is on your belt, you're fine then too. I just think some people get weird about seeing a gun, so if I'm in town or around people at all, it's concealed.

Jeff...Instead of a t-shirt, you might try a lightweight fly fishing vest.

Deep...I'm sorry you got attacked, but happy you came out of that experience ok.

I love the way a Glock Shoots, but I have never been a fan of the trigger safety. The statement that a lot of Cops pick them is not necessarily true. The cops department chooses them and when cops pick their own, some do some don't. I personally see a lot of HK's and Sig's. If you do research the Glock trigger safety shoots more people (Including officers) in the leg or foot than any other. It is not my choice for a CC. The smith Governor and other .45 .410 Revolvers are spectacular side arms when hiking and My Governor tucks nicely into a fanny pack or back carry. It is heavy. #6 High base birdshot is a real deterrent and you can't miss. It would be my choice for any amateur or new cc user. For the more experienced trained CC My choice is a hammerless snub nosed .357 mag, Plus Ps are a real hoot. .357 is lightweight and packs a real whollip IMO

Snub .357 is bottom left and the governor .410 is middle row second from top If anyone is interested

I carry a medium size camelback backpack so I have my water and a place to stash my keys in a waterproof box and other goodies I find on the beach like beer, liquor un-opened of course, wireless speakers and cell phones. I also carry waterproof bags for electronics so I can still get in the water chest deep. I wouldn't need to access the firearm while I am in the water as I feel pretty safe out there from land sharks.

I carry the Snake Slayer 1V buy Bond Arms. 410 or 45 long Colt. Weighs 23 oz. Fits in your boot but I bought a waist holster that works great from Amazon. I load with 71/2 squirrel shot. Made in Texas.020A6E31-5143-4DB4-8447-CDC99D70CBF7.webp sorry would not rotate.

I have been carrying my FN Five Seven for many years in all sorts of austere environments, does the job.

Only issue with it is Over Penetration.

FN has proven its products in many theaters for decades, and unlike Glock there are no Cop Triggers.

Taurus Public Defender...45LC & .410. First two rounds are 45LC, next is 00 buckshot, last is #6 birdshot. If the first two doesn't stop 'em, throw the pistol at them and run.

One of my conceal carry as well, first round is Hornady self defense round (410 slug with 2 35 mm bearings) then it alternates with .45 hollow point. (3 Hornady rounds 2 .45 rounds)

Just sayin.... I wasn't carrying a weapon other than my digging tool.

Actually I have a concealed carry permit - BUT HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY CARRIED.

I did the WAR thing, and yes my life did matter. In my personal evolution I trend more towards Ghandi. I don't kill things, don't hunt - biting insects are the exception.

I keep things simple. The Bulldog is loaded with Sig +P 185 grain jacketed hollow points,900 fps.

I used my Judge to stop an assault on me already, attacked at stop light by man who was high when I refused to give him a ride, he reached in my car and grabbed my arm yanking it out of my car threatening to break it if I didn't give him a ride, I have had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders.

I stuck my Judge in his face and told him if he didn't let go of my arm I was going to blow his head off, when he saw the Judge he let go and took off running. Local police advised me I was with in my right when I pulled my pistol and in fact I was advised if I fired I would not have been arrested or charged. I also had witnesses to the attack.

Kel Teck PMR-30 its only a 22 Mag. weighs in at only 1 pound, but it holds 30 Rounds.

I like where you are going with this but personally I run the birdshot first 2 rounds then run straight .410 slugs. Any expert CC instructor will tell you that in a panic situation your blood pressure and heart rate instantly spikes. This can and often does alter your minds ability to access and identify surroundings, affects your aim and reaction times. Anyone who hasn't shot #6 highbase at close range should absolutely do so. It is quite impressive. So I shoot the birdshot first. I have to be less concerned about the safety of what is beyond the threat A miss with a plus P or solid projectile can travel for a mile if unobstructed. Secondly my chances of hitting and stopping the threat with the first shot increases dramatically. If the threat is too far away to be affective with highbase birdshot they are too far away to be very accurate with a solid projectile fired from a 2 " barrel. Just my two cents and of course IMO. and the last thing. I highly recommend that ANYONE who CC's to buy affordable insurance that will hire and pay for your attorney fees if you have to exercise your rights. This is no longer the days where you get to go home and all is forgotten. The likelihood of some form of lawsuit is more than likely. In the situation where it was stated the the LEO said you would not be charged had you fired is A) not a guarantee B) If the LEO doesn't charge you Civil Suits can be filed on you from anywhere. The targets family, District Attorneys, anti gun groups. This is no longer a protect yourself country. Sad but True
