Cut Half Real Cob and a nice buckle

Hunted three hours for my second hunt on a new early site. Signals were few and far between with only two period finds but they’re good ones. Tiny little cut cob that looks to be late 17th or very early 18th and an unfortunately plow struck? but still nice 17th century buckle

Nice finds. It is a shame the buckle got plowed. The cross on the cob tells us it is from the Mexico City mint. I have only found 2 cobs and both were from the Mexico City mint. Looks like you will have a lot of fun on that permission. Stay safe and keep swingin.

It's too bad the buckle has been hit by the plow but I'd say the cob more than makes up for it!

I dont know. Probably someone more knowledgeable than me could. Its all there and would be one of my best early buckles if repaired

Thanks. Id say this one is around 1700. Site across the street is mid 18th. I tend to have better success finding 17th to early mid 18th century sites vs late 18th-early 19th. Ive found around a dozen pre 1700 silvers but only one state copper and no liberty caps
