All Right well let me begin by saying hello to all. Trashedtiger,dragon6banger,just1man82 and myself went on a CW hunt Thursday morning to a well known civil war site, within the 1st hour we were digging cannon ball frags some better than others, about 6 in all, found a couple of small cw pistol bullets alot of modern 22 bullets and a few big cw rounds that I cannot identify.
Every item that we dug was a good 8" to 1 foot deep, around 12 o'clock I dug a bullet that I can not identify it has no rings and is oddly shaped, trashedtiger sad that he thought it was a confederate bullet and not a Yankee I don't know but would like to. As the day pasted by we decided that we had had enough and were packing up to go home. Upon coming back into town, there was a civil war trail marker on the side of the road as well a one of those description signs that tells you what happened. Well Dragon6banger and just1man82 work at the prison so they had been up going on 12 hours so we pulled over to read the sign so they could wake up. And the sign said that there was an old house that a cw general lived in and was built in the early 1800's as well as some revolutionary war activity went on there as well. Well the original house is not there anymore but there is a newer house in its place, so just out of curiosty thinking I would get turned down we drove up to the house and I asked permission. To my suprise all the man could say was yes, yes, yes. So out we went again.
1st digging nothing but gunk then popped out a 1944 wheaty, then a what is it (shown in last picture) ( I think that it is a part to an old bell) Then all of a sudden trashedtiger pulled out a PERFECT BEUTIFUL BULLET (need ID) It does not look to be cw period b/CFO the size it is not big enough to be a 45 or a 50 cal. And is very oddly shaped. The bullet is absouluty beautiful looks like it was made yesterday. 2ND pic from the bottom.
Oh yea I almost forgot back at the cw site just1man82 did dig what appears to be a carved piece of lead that was used a ring stone, it has either a name etched in it or a small picture it is about the size of a garden pea. Sorry my camera isn't letting me load the pic of it but pics will come sorry Roger.
All in all besides the poisen Ivy and bird sized mosquitoes we had a fun and exciting day and cant wait to do it again.
Thanks and HH
