Dagger from Roman Corn Field Site!

Hi Guys, had a pretty good week in regard to stab weapons. After i found a cool Hitler Youth Knife i went to an old Corn Field site that i was allowed to hunt from the owner. At this time of year, there is no corn on the field so i was allowed to detect. Well, it was freezing cold. My hands hurt and i couldnt feel my fingers anymore. Because there were VERY BIG Chunks of Soil, i couldnt really swing like i wanted to. Because of that, i only got very few signals. Decided to dig everything, even the iron because i wanted to give something to the owner afterwards. Well, found pretty much nothing but this nice Handle. I assume its a roman Dagger Handle but dont know for sure so any Info would be greatly appreciated. Its massive ferrous metal and has some very fine ornaments on the handle. Will try to restore it properly...maybe i am able to get all of the rust off of it again. Thanks for watching! bye GA

Guys Guys!!! I was just cleaning my finds and i realised i found the Blade as well!!!! It was so cold that i was just throwing the Stuff in my bag caus it didnt look like a blade when i found it. Now when i brushed off the dirt from my things, i saw what it is! Will post pics later on. Im so happy right now!

Looks to be more modern than Roman, perhaps part of a iron fence.

Silver Searcher, i disagree with great respect. This is obviously a dagger or a small knife. It even has a very detailed Guard bar over the handle. Material fits and i know this type of dagger existed. Did you actually see i found the Blade as well?

Btw, it (the handle) isnt broken off on the bottom. This wasnt part of a fence bar but had exactly this size.

I'm sorry but I just don't see it, the blade does not look like a Roman blade either...no disrespect meant, perhaps if you show more pictures of this detail you mention.

Im not saying that this has to be Roman. Maybe its from sometime around 1400 or so but its coming from a definite Roman site and its obviously a dagger like the medieval Bollock or kidney Daggers. Seriously, if you dont see this is a dagger then you shouldnt comment on them. I think its not fair your talking bad about a find like this. Like i said, i respect you and the great finds you made but in this particular case your wrong.

I accept your opinion and am happy about you posting here in this Thread and all this but i am beyond doubt its a dagger. But no big deal, i will try to restore the handle and will post new pics after all the crust came off. It may take a few months or so but i have no doubt you´ll see it then.
