I cycled up my favourite lane looking for what land was available & I noticed that the farmer had flatten Barley Field 2 into a perfect state! (I had left this field on day 5 after he had raked it up) I looked no further & started my search.
I went over some of the area I had already done & got a couple of scrappies & a foriegn hammered.
Nice Album coin of a reverse type I need
Constantine II
AD317-340
CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C
AE3 - 18mm
CAESARVM
NOSTRORVM
Laurel Wreath
around VOT X
STR - Mint
-------------------------------
Italian Hammered (these were brought over once a year in a fleet of Galleys to lend to Brits who had borrowed from the Venetian bankers):
N/K DOGE
1485-1530
Italian SOLDINO
(Galley Halfpenny)
DOGE Kneeling before St Mark
LAVS TIBI SOLI
Jesus Facing with
halo holding cross
-----------------------------------------
Found a rare Brunswich musket ball
1717 'dump' halfpenny
3 scrappy Romans
Part of a Roman Brooch
Most of a Military Roman 'Vulva' mount (leather mount on the cavalry horses)
A tiny lead figure of a spinx (I nearly chucked it in my scrap lead pocket)
and bits..
This is the kinda 5 hours I enjoy, all because of hitting the right field at the right time in the right conditions. Dad & I will return tomorrow, however I have hit the best areas so we may not get as much. (funny, some of my best days are on my own)
