SoCal beach today gave up a bunch of clad and a couple goodies.

Found a nice silver ring (.925) that reads "Trust Dad" on the inside. My first silver!!! WEEEEEEEE. Found a junk ring too...And my favorite... A NUGGET!
The nugget is metal, but have no idea what kind. Its not solder, nor does it look like a fired bullet..looks like a naturally occuring metal. Its very light and was found about 6inches down in wet sand. Any ideas?Heres the pics.

Your thread title is very clever. I give you, a newbie no less, great credit for the rhyming humor.

Nice haul you got there. Somewhere there is a dad with an unhappy son or daughter - because the ring they customized for him came off in the surf. Oh well, his loss is your gain.

The nugget certainly appears to be just that, but a lightweight nugget is not a good sign. If it were silver it would be somewhat heavy. Same for platinum. Maybe it's old aluminum? I have no clue.

Thanks TT... I was pretty sure when i found the nugget that it wasnt a 'precious metal' due to the weight...but its just as cool to me either way. Thanks for the help.

yup a benny! I didnt even know they made those. First one ive ever seen. I was stoked when i dug it @ first... then i saw the date (2006). Ive also noticed that 90% of the quarters ive dug have been the newer state quarters...kinda weird.

A Ben Franklin nickel? Are you guys kidding? I thought the new design still had Thomas Jefferson's likeness on them. :icon_scratch:

Jewelry mode, Full sensitivity on the dry sand, 3-4 bars in the wet sand, 2-3 bars in the water. Didn't get much falsing at all... But i did dig up a buried taco wrapped in foil. Stinky and gross :(

One thing ive noticed about the Ace...it LOVES dimes. The thing sings like a canary if its anywhere near one.

Thanks for the praise Ivan

if she gets a bit touchy (beeping all the time or acting squirrelly) on full sen ( and sometimes she will) just back off a few on the sen --and she should smooth out and behave nicely --- of course be sure to keep the housing dry --she doesn't like getting wet -- and watch out for water in the shaft --when set flat it runs up the shaft toward the housing --look out for that ---Ivan

 Great looking ring...good luck on you covert ops!

hey cerf.... I just got the 2nd Ace 250. Bought my wife one a few months ago and really liked it. We use about the same settings you use at the beach and works well for us. We did find that if we get within about 30 feet of each other, they both go nuts! The Ace hunts very well in every condition we've tried from tot lots to the beach. Love them!

I live along the great lakes .. the nugget is either alum foundry slag thats been years ago part of land fill,or dumping ground, or like in my case some times ore boat that has sunk and due to storms washes ashore ..the beaches in some area's here are loaded with it .. if alum goes higher think i will become a scrapper LOL.
