Thanks for commenting and see my signature for past months finds.

December turned out to be a good month. I was skunked on gold until today (the last day of the month)! I was bound and determined to get gold, so I hit a spot that produced some silver and just spent 5 hours digging everything in a 30 yard x 30 yard area. I got two great golds one is my first 18K with a beautiful star opal in it.

Here is the month's tally:

- 2 gold rings; 14K and 18K
- 5 silver rings
- 1 silver St. Christopher medallion
- 2 silver chains
- 2 silver roosies; 1961D and 1964D
- 1 1966 Kennedy Half (40% silver)

Dave you are right, it's not a mint mark, but the 'D' from the word GOD. The letters "IN GO_" are under some corrosion. I'll edit the post and correct.

WHADIFIND: The 14K band came in at 55-59. It was about 5" down in moist sand. The 18K ring rang up in the 40's, sorry I can't remember exactly. That's the thing with gold. I found the band early on in the hunt and have found lots of 10k and 14k rings, mostly on the smallish side in the same range as pull tabs, 52 up to maybe 62. The only gold I've found in the 40s has been very small 10k stuff and the big ones all come in at the 68-73 range. I was surprised to get one that size in the 40's.
