Detected covered wood burner ports in wall of 1950's home ... WHAMMO !!!

Yep... Strong signals blew my headphones off... Block home and chimney has been covered with drywall and a built in cedar shelf system... 120 screws later... and now needs 2 4x8 sheets of drywall to fix... the signal was......




Damn heat collar... BUT...
It was good I went in... the idiots that drywalled left 2 basketball holes w/ direct access to open chimney... and covered drywall holes with cedar bookshelf... heh
BTW all of it planned for removal and inspection.
Any draft and BUGS could walk right in

After fully renovating two houses, when it comes to what you will find behind the walls nothing surprises me. From dead creatures to live wires and a whole lot of "why the hell did they do that!" which usually costs a fortune to fix. On the other hand, I also found a cache of silver dollars, halves and quarters while tearing apart a closet so sometimes you do get lucky.

Well, if the chimney was for a fireplase, there is probably a big cast-iron damper in there. If it was for a 'box' stove, it might just be a 'feed thru collar'.
