While this detector is fine for saltwater beaches and surf, it has almost no discrimination so you will recover lots of iron trash on land where the digging is harder than in the sand.

I own both Diver model which does have great discrimination and the PI which has none, like all PI's, BUT iron is a harsher tone than non ferrous. These are excellent, extremely light weight easy to use water detectors. I've found that you can hit on a dime at 9 to 10" as an example. Rings/jewelry have a softer sweet tone with the diver. I've recovered rings at 12".

The PI has nice depth..16" and more for rings, coins etc...better have a big scoop..

I've never had any problem snorkeling with them or service from Gary. I rate detector pros as top notch. They work great on the dry sand land area's also.
