Diamond Beach Find

I’m back at one of my regular beaches—one I’ve searched many times before. The last time I was here was in May, but that trip only yielded a few minor finds.

Last night, I hit the beach for the first time on this visit, and within ten minutes, I struck gold—literally. I found a diamond wedding band, the one in the photo.

As I examined the ring, a young woman who works the beach chair rental nearby approached me. I had noticed her watching me earlier. Before I could even say anything, she asked, “Is that a white gold wedding band with diamonds?” My heart sank.

I showed her the ring, and she immediately pulled up a photo on her phone. It was the exact same ring. She explained that a woman had lost it the previous week and had asked the staff to keep an eye out in case someone found it.

The woman gave me the owner's name and contact info, and I was able to reach her last night. She was beyond thrilled. Turns out, it was a Tiffany & Co. white gold wedding band with 1.5 carats of diamonds, valued at over $3,000.

So, it was a bittersweet moment. Of course, I would’ve loved to keep such a beautiful ring—but it’s an incredible feeling to be able to return something so meaningful to its rightful owner.

Thank you. I love finding things, but I always feel bad when I find things, especially nice things, thinking I am enjoying the loss and misery of someone else. I hate losing things. I am happy to be able to return items to the rightful owners. It makes you feel good.

Beautiful find, looking at that ring its hard to imagine paying $3000+ for it. Says a lot about what we find and about what the original owners might have paid to get that item.
Pawn Shops and Jewelry stores generally don't give you $ for diamonds unless they are BIG, and almost all my rings have had diamonds like this, which means that if you sold it you would get Gold value but probably nothing for those small diamonds..

Nice that you could return it. It may have cost $3000 when bought, but value now with current gold prices would be less than $300 so don't be too discouraged.

The diamonds have little value once ring leaves the jewelry store....

Yes I have, picture shows small ring, if it is 5 gram ring, 14k it's about $300 at current price of gold.

Found 2 just like that in two days at two different beaches. How ever, both of mine were junkers.

Depends on the alloy make up of the white gold, if $3000 new could be a rhodium alloy.

Congrats on the return.
The ring in my profile is my best. It was found in a lake swimming area and while I did search for an owner, I was pretty much limited to the park and local paper and very relieved when the search failed. That being said, I have returned several rings after being asked to find them and that is a great feeling.

I've found many diamond rings over the years, but truly the most rewarding and memorable are the ones I was able to return to their original owner.

Just a quick follow-up. I was able to return the ring to its owner. She was very happy to get it back.
They lady sent back a picture of the wedding band with the rest of the ring.
She also sent me $100 reward which was nice.
