Did anyone figure out this 1568 rock, considering there's 1 or 2 others 1568

It's a marked stone carved by US Mineral Surveyor James Dobbins in 1901. It was one of the original legal corners, buried halfway in the ground with the carvings above ground, for the Sun Set lode (before some fool removed it), which is part of Mineral Survey 1568. It became fee simple patented land (private land) with the survey. It may or may not have remained private land - could have reverted back to the government via purchase, trade, etc. You'll note that there were lots of workings on that land in 1901 - I imagine most were remediated (filled in, covered up) by the state or feds in more recent times. Here's a very handy tool for finding information (including plats showing old workings, buildings, roads, et al, and also the surveyor's field notes) on patented mining claims. https://glorecords.blm.gov/default.aspx

SDCFIA,

"Black Bart" found one a looooong time ago. After he died, Phil Reinhart from the SMHS Museum got it, and the last time I saw it, it was in his garden.

Nick, a surveyor friend of mine had a client who bought a piece of land and needed it surveyed. It was rocky, snarly and generally worthless with no power, no water and no decent building site on it. My friend asked the buyer why he wanted it. "I found a Spanish treasure marker over there," he said, "And I've figured out the code. I'm going to be rich."

"Oh, no, the original surveyor made those carvings. It's just one of your corners," my friend said.

"Ha ha, no it isn't. You're trying to talk me out of this deal so you can get it for yourself. Well, I'm not buying your story, buddy. Next month, I'll show you the gold."

A year later, Nick the surveyor was in the neighborhood and drove by the property. It had about a dozen deep holes on it and a 'For Sale' sign on the road. Go figure.

I thought maybe it was another of Travis's handy work..... Thanks for the info! Now I can forget about it!!

Travises Handy Work, Carrol that stone looks nothing similar to Travises Stones, Your on a witch hunt like the others,
Now no artist sits down and carves 5 maps without similar copies laying around, Even Degrazi left a trail of similar paintings. Even your dads work left behind similarities,

Good story, reminds me of an old gold rush tale.

A prospector brought in a sample of supposedly rich gold ore to be examined by the assayer. He later told the prospector that it was nothing but iron pyrites and not worth a cent. The astounded prospector exclaimed in direst dismay, "Good Lord! There's an old woman up our way that owns a hill of it, and I married her."

Mick,

No witch hunt, just new information. I was a Stone Map Guy for many years. Frank isn't a BS'er. Travis not only made stone maps, he also had several maps on skin and paper. Take Frank's Word on this one. The Stone Maps were made from the Ground Map, and the Ground Map was likely made by Travis.

Imagine all those times Bob Garman ran into Travis and Robert in the mountains, they weren't trying to solve the Stone Maps?!?! What if they were constructing a false history to support the Stone Maps? Travis WAS an accomplished stone carver. Maybe some of those signs in the rocks by Whitlow and Millsite Canyons were carved by Travis? Maybe Michael Bilbrey actually found the Stone Crosses at the base of Tortilla Mountain, but what if Travis and Robert placed them there to be found?

See, the Stone Maps all by themselves would be very interesting, but with no provenance (documented history or historical mentions), their monetary value would only be SO MUCH. Now, imagine that the Stone Maps were known. Then things were found in the mountains whose markings matched those on the Stone Maps. Say those things were found by people with NO CONNECTION to the Tumlinsons. That would add to the value of the Stone Maps GREATLY! So, what if Travis planted the Stone Crosses and the Latin Heart (and maybe even more that haven't been found yet). Imagine if he held on to the Stone Maps. Never tried to sell them, and only appeared to have been trying to solve them. He LOOKS completely guilt free, and instead of being worth a few thousand dollars, the Stone Maps would have been worth millions. Maybe cancer screwed up his plans to get rich. MAYBE!

Good "outside the box" thinking

Except for the cursum perficio rock and parchment which surfaced long before Tumlinson came to Arizona. Abe Reid was talking about it to Hoolie Bacon in the early 1910-1920's, perhaps even before that.

Totally off topic but anyone know where I can get a couple of burros for a couple of days?

Cursum is dubious. Can you explain the exact origin of Cursum? Cursum also has no identical symbolism to the Stone Maps (unlike the Stone Crosses found by Michael Bilbrey). All the verbiage on Cursum is easily translated, and if someone knows the location of the Cursum Boulder, then someone should have access to "the end of the journey".

I wonder if the Cursum Boulder is the boulder pictured in the Perfil Mapa? The one that looks like it has a nose...I really don't know much about the Cursum subject but I find the subject fascinating...Maybe one day I'll read up on it...lol

Could you enlighten us that are not very knowledgeable on the subject Mike? What is the Cursum boulder and where is it located?

Not the same as the CP rock.....but it's very close and within his field of view

I really do not know very much about the CP thingy...But when I come to think of it...I am 99.999 percent certain that the crumbs of ore that I gave Paul came from the corazon pictured on the CP...This is IF I have figured out the triangulum thingy of the Santa Fe image...Of course there is a .001 margin of error as is there with my certainty of my finding Tayopa and such...So I could be wrong...

Heck...I still say IF anyone comes up with the eight figures that I am requesting...I will let them know all that I know...Or most of my knowledge at least...Oh well...I am still content in knowing what little I know...
