It doesn't look worked I think it is just a natural rock.

Sorry, it is natural stone, no sign of being worked in pictures.

Really? I cleaned it off and am posting another picture. It looks worked to me. I was so excited, I thought I finally got one :(Arrow Head..Maybe 1.webpArrowhead ..maybe?.webp

Are you finding any reduction flakes in your area?Sometimes that is a first good indicator they used the area. Keep at it try to hunt some known sites in your area. You will be successful.
Good luck.

What Tnmountains said. Also if your able to hunt plowed fields in or near where you live. Good luck.

Agreed.
If you could provide us with pics of both sides,
that would be useful.
The rock appears to be a work-able material,
where control of the reduction into tools and weapons,
would be possible.

Am I missing something,,,Please post both sides and a side shot for me , that’s the only way to get the best answer.thank you.

Yes there are.

SC, look at how stubby it is, and compare it in that respect to how thin actual arrowheads are. How could anyone have tied that onto the end of an arrow ? Your question kind of answers itself if you approach it that way.

Stay with the worked piece and there will be abetter one there and you will have no doubts. It is a matter of time if you are finding worked flakes. Good luck.

I found this today. This has been worked correct? It has the flaking all around. Worked Chert 1.webpWorked Chert 2.webpWorked Chert 3.webpWorked Chert 4.webp

Now that one looks like a unifacial scraper to me. The first piece you posted is not a point IMO.

Sorry I have one more I’m curious about. Is this flaking or just a weird rock. Lol sorry for all the questions.

Suggestion : Look at the flaking on the many scrapers and points pictured here. Compare with yours.

The 1st pointy item does not look right to me, although it is triangular in shape. It is a chipped stone of some sort, but definitely not a point.

When I began artifact hunting, it was shape that drew my attention. I can not tell you how my heart raced when something like that came into view. But alas, I’ve been duped by the shape of objects countless times.

Surface hunters call these fakers.

This one looks good though. I do not see any indication of purposeful alteration on any of the other stones pictured, but I do on this one. I see the flaking that you mentioned. This could be (and likely is) a Thumbnail Scraper, which is a NA Artifact.

The small finger tip size, the steep edge flaking, the unifacial base and the curved working edge are indicative.

It looks to be made of a high quality material too.

Generally speaking, it is helpful to include your thoughts or opinions regarding why or what it is that makes you suspect that an item could be an artifact, as you did with this one.

BTW: Good Eye!

Literally love you for that comment. Thank you. Even a little positivity makes me want to continue my search. Tomorrow I’m metal detecting my property since my area made almost all northern civil war tools. Thank you !
