Did some test

All, Well did some testing with my ACE 350- rings & coins.

Everything came up on the scale were it should be EXCEPT! a 10k gold ring?
it bounced all over the scale from one end to the other, is this normal?

If so, GUESS I better go back to the beach and get those rings that I missed when hearing that sound, it only happened 1 or 2 times but now I'm thinking that might of been 10K
any help on this.......Thanks....HH

Well as I hunt with the screen also, I will tell you it takes practice before you get good at it. You can either dig all targets, or just dig solid hits. As for it bouncing all over, a few things come to mind. There could be more than one target in the hole. It could be on its side. The screen is just for coin sized objects and bottlecaps still come up as good targets every so often. Im sure I miss stuff not digging everything, but I cover a lot more ground just digging good targets. I have more good targets than bad also. I usually find rings in a solid foil signal with a hi number and solid signal. Hope this helps. The guys digging the weak signals probably love me right now lol.

Is the ring cracked? Being an incomplete loop, it will behave as you described.

Ism is right: if there is a hair-line split in the ring (like where it might have been soldered in the past, and now has a micro-gap in there) is the usual reason for rings not locking on to an ID.

Ya well, I'm still learning and it's a pain when you start to get old and can't hear

I too use the 350 and a new MD hobbyist. I did a lot of testing with everything from silver coins to clad, to gold jewelry to junk steel. Its a difficult thing to master for sure. I have found a ton of clad and am waiting for my first silver. I have found I get a lot of hits that are registering in the iron area but will also get a coin or pulltab hit at the same time. I usually dig those just in case. My pulltab collection is getting big for sure. It'll pay off someday.
