Hello All,
I got out in the cane fields with Shanegalang and Diggergirl today. We have been a little disheartened about getting farther and farther away from our Colonial hotspot, but I have figured that as long as there are still occasional buttons dug, any of those could really be anything--military buttons, coins, etc. So we keep working out, continuing the grid, and having faith.
Well it took a while but Diggergirl pulled through with the skunking she always seems to deliver us boys. After a long day of digging, with a few flat buttons and pipe stems found, Diggergirl announced she had a coin. It turned out to be the NINTH Spanish Silver from this massive field:

She requested that I post the great find today since she hasn't been too active on the forum recently, and really wanted some replies.
Here are her and my combined finds for the day:

The coin is either an 1800 or 1808 Carolus IIII Half Real. It has been damaged by the burning of the cane fields each year, but it is still a killer find.

Congrats, Diggergirl, on digging your oldest coin! Such a pleasure to hunt with you today. 8)

Best Wishes,
Buckles
