Now I'm starting to take it personal.

Just saw an article that proclaimed that they filmed an episode out in New Mexico on the Glorieta Unit of Pecos National Park.

One of my direct descendants fought there with Company B of the 7th Texas Mounted Volunteers under CPT Gustave Hoffman.

I'd give everything i own just to be able to do a volunteer dig at Glorieta/Pigeon's Ranch and help the NPS fill out their displays... It disappoints me that so many people don't even realize that the Civil War reached that far west, and now the biggest media exposure opportunity to do so goes to these two sissies?

Ugh.

It's funny timing, actually the misses and I are making the 11 hour drive here within the next month or so to see the newly dedicated Glorieta Battlefield Trail.

If I find evidence of ONE SINGLE HOLE not filled back in...! Haha

I think acting or over-acting is the downfall of the diggers. Their over the top reactions set a poor example to the public of how your average metal detecting enthusiast would react to finding a target. Look at it this way, Say you have a neighbor with a house built early 1800s. You plan to ask permission to hunt the extensive property. would you want those property owners to watch the show diggers the night before you plan to stop by? I certainly would not. I have nothing against those guys acting like children in their own neighborhood, I could care less how they act off camera. But representing the sport of metal detecting in front of millions of viewers calls for a certain degree of professionalism which these two people lack. As for me watching the show, I was unfortunate enough to catch 2 or 3 episodes while healing from surgery. I do not and will not watch the show now. As far as watching boo boo brain, Not even on my death bed!!!!! I have absolutely no use for stupid.

Wow! This is way beyond logical in my opinion. Count me as one who completely disagrees. They should feel free to enjoy their hobby in the manner which they choose. If they are being irresponsible or condoning something dangerous, people should call them out on it, but for simply acting excited about good finds? That's they're choice, not anyone else's. Just because some possible situation that might happen and might cause a certain reaction, it shouldn't have any bearing on how they choose to celebrate a good find. The government already sticks their nose into the hobby beyond reason, let's not try to regulate their degree of joy.

Think whatever you like, I won't beat my head against any walls trying to convince you I'm right. Enjoy the show, go out and copy the diggers, wear them on your Tee shirt. Makes no difference to me. I act like a reasonable and intelligent individual while out in the field and will continue to do so. Why you might ask, Because I care how others perceive me and the sport of metal detecting and I would like people to feel confident in offering me permission to be on their property. ( Gee I must be crazy for caring). I would hope that property owners would feel confident enough after allowing me to detect that they would agree to the next person who might approach them.

The key to fitting in anywhere is to act as normal and responsible as possible. The farther you deviate from the norm, the less you fit in. The less you fit in, the less likely you are to be excepted. It is what it is, learn it and enjoy, or don't learn it and don't complain. You can argue with the voice of reason all day long, but it is still the voice of reason.

That's it.......wild gets a Diggers shirt for Christmas.
Hahaha.....just kidding wild.
I agree that these guys are goofy, but if they were boring I couldn't watch.
Happy hunting to you!

The must be doing something right. They have many of us and others watching and also got a second season.

Ronzie I have to agree on getting the sounds right...they play the wrong sounds to the equipment and drives me nuts. I'll admit I have watched every show, watched all the digwars shows, tried to watch mr. boombaby but he just made me mad and I noticed because of his roundness he seems to be always breathing hard, heck he gets out of breath and breaks a sweat if he farts to hard. What bothers me about him is its all about money, yes he will point out some history but its boom baby this is a gazillion bucks and that's not what this is about to me and doesn't seem to be that way about the digger guys.

Get your facts first, then distort them as you please-Mark Twain

I like the way you think. Some people think their way is the RIGHT way and the ONLY way...I don't care how someone does something, whatever makes them happy.

I not going to put on an act to try to fit in and be accepted...Im going to be myself...I hate being normal anyway. :tongue3:

i am not based in US... and i only got to watch the 1st season which just ended here for about 2-3 weeks... AND i am having withdrawal syndrome!!!
honestly, i think it is just an entertaining show... the bets making it a nice ending to an episode even though some were just downright goofy... but well, we enjoyed it. even my wife enjoys it...
and for her, as a non-detectorist... she was all hyped up with the value and ease of finds... hence, giving me more time to go hunting so that i can bring back something nice for her...

ain't that just great? hahaha... (i am just not happy that i cannot get to see the other digging shows that you guys are enjoying in US!)

If she believes the value they show on the items they find well then she must ne pretty gullible. I bet u can talk her into believing anything?. Thise prices they put uo r ridiculous.

na... she knows some of them are ridiculous... but the fact that they can put a value onto almost anything they find, made her 'all hyped up'.... and it helps that i bagged a few 22k gold rings in my first 2 months into this hobby... ;)

Me either. Who wants to be a sheeple and follow the rest the herd/flock/group. If metal detecting was normal too many people would be doing it.

I watch dig wars and that's the only one. I went to rick savages face book page and left comments on there but they were deleted . And for people complaining about the shows that's their right , if you don't want to read them that's your right . These shows have lost me some properties because the people who let me metal detect watched Rick Savage and diggers and decided they wanted no part of metal detecting

And for people that like the show, its their right to support them...Ive heard several stories where the show Diggers got young kids interested in the hobby, so it goes both ways.
