Dman & VOL Attack U.S. Camp & They Don't Have As Much Lead As they Used To +Video

As you will see in the video, we had a lot of rain here yesterday and were forced to cancel our hunt to a U.S. 1862 camp. TENNJOSH could not go today and Tenn. Digger (Donnie) opted to turn around and return home as it was raining shortly after he left home. Dman and I waited in the truck for an hour or so for a window to hunt between showers. We dug a few relics but neither had any outstanding recoveries. The wet soil did facilitate digging deep signals. Any day you can go out and recover 150 year old history and take it home is a Good Day!! HH, Doug & Quindy.
Note the "Relic Rag" Modern Miner sent me!!

Don't worry BB, I'll have the camera handy so you can get me digging Reales and plates-LOL. HH on Friday, Q.

I am gonna do my best to put you and Dman on Reales and Plates. Now, I can't guarantee that both of ya will get a reale or plate, but one of us should dig something good during the trip!

Cheers,

Buckles

Steve..... I can put up with the golf shirts alright but it's those white, patent leather shoes that he wears that gets me. I will say that "Polo" Doug can dig bullets and buttons!!! Tennessee digger:happysmiley:

JB, while the U.S. Indiana & Ohio Infantry was camped there 9 days in late Dec. of 1862, it rained for nearly 2 days. They were fearing an attack from Gen. John Hunt Morgan as he had devastated the Hartville U.S. garrison a week before. Fearing the powder in their rifles was wet, the used a "worm" that screwed onto the ramrod. The worm was screwed in the nose of the soft bullet and the bullet could be pulled from the barrel and removed without firing the weapon thus avoiding cleaning the corrosive black powder residue. The bullet was discarded as the hole in the tip affected trajectory (or so they thought). I dug one .58 there last week that was not pulled or fired but had the ramrod impression on the tip. In this case. the soldier removed the breech plug and pushed the bullet out the rear of the barrel. That's probably more than you wanted to know about a pulled bullet. There were 2 different worm size ramrod tips too. Thanks for replying & HH Bud, Q.

Thanks for looking September, Bob, Dave, & DH.

Looking forward to the hunt with "Bayou Buddies" BB and Shane's gumbo.

Dman does really enjoy digging those CW buttons Donnie & especially that VA button that he recovered in 2009. Expect to see some formal wear in the next hunt video just for you & Steve of PA-LOL. Q.
