Was scheduled to be at work around 4PM today, so I left early to head to Druid Hill Park in Baltimore City for an hour or so hunt. Not much time, but I had an area in mind and figured I'd see what I could find. I stuck to a small spot of about 20 x 20 feet and took my time listening to the signals. My first target was a 1940 wheat, then some trash, and then a 1923 Buff. A little more trash and then my first IHC of the hunt. I kept at it and though I did dig several iron nails or bolts, I did manage to unearth three more IHCs, one of which was within an inch of a moderate sized iron nut. So now you know why I didn't want to leave. Not a record day for Indians, but I'll take four any day. Much better than the last time I was at Druid; about a month ago I came away with just one wheat. Thanks for checking out the post and the pics. HH!!

Wow great finds I think I have 2 Indians in two years those are in sweet looking condition Thanks for always sharing your cool finds I found two wheats today and they were both bent go figure !!!!!

Yes! It was that kind of day....dig 6 coins and 5 of them have Indians on them.

Thx Tommy, I went to this spot today because I had pulled Indians from it in the past. Just goes to show me that I missed some. I don't think anyone else is hunting this area. In fact, I don't think many people are going to Druid to detect any more.

Great work Mccdig. Tell me about your local soil. Here most coins are eroded and stained. Is your soil sand? What is the soil of choice?

That's really nice. Your IHCs are always so smooth and green.

Congrats.

Great hunt, very nice clean up on your coins and great pix!

Druid Hill did you well. Great looking bunch of IH's. Three of the four still have liberty on the headband. Hopefully you will be able to get back there soon.

The soil has been very kind to those coins-nice finds

The soil has been kind to those coins.
Gotta like that F75 too.
Nice finds!

Very nice hunt!

I would say that was time well spent and well rewarded. Congrats.

Thanks alabama! In this same park you find the "greenie" IHCs or sometimes they stayed brown but the soil is a light, somewhat sandy dark soil. If you go elsewhere in this same park, where there are hardwoods, the soil gets acidic and eats the coppers up. There are two other parks in Baltimore that have similar soil. Best IHCs for me have come from Druid Hill Park, where these guys were dug.

Thanks Ironman! In this park you'd make that name stick. Lots of square nails and other deep iron here.

Thanks Art! I was getting greedy there, hoping for a best day ever for Indians. Don't have too many days like that one. I agree....a good hunt.

Thx Carolina Tom! These guys were pretty caked with embedded dirt when they came out and you can't quite tell whether there corroded or just dirt-filled. Turns out after peroxide and baking soda they came out real clean and the "Liberty" is readable on each one. Now if one comes out green and I can scrape the dirt off easily, I'll leave it that way.
