Do you ever look for Morels when you are out hunting treasure?

Geez, not so hostile to fungus. :'(

When I am detecting I don't play with fungus. It is best to only scout for the Morels with your mind on the task so you aren't distracted. Something that valuable should be collected. You can buy more detectors with the money you get from selling Morels to restaurants if you are lucky to find enough.

Thats what we call pecker heads here in KY and have seen a few while digging. Im not a big fan of eating fungus so I leave them for the next guy!

Won't be long now till mushroom hunting. Actually I was thinking about mushroom hunting during the "dull"drums of winter and was thinking I should combine hobbies. Through my years of hunting morels I have come across some sites that might be good fo MDing (probably better for this then the elusive fungi). Some old foundations and such. So I put in an order for an MXT, should be here in a few days. Now I am really looking forward to spring. Think I'll trudge through the snow today and rescout those areas.

A lot of time in the spring "MD'ing" switches from "Metal Detecting" to "Morel Detecting" in short order. I carry some mesh bags behind the seat of my truck just in case. I was detecting around a very old apple orchard once and hauled almost 4 paper grocery bags out of there once.

I'm always on the lookout for morels

Yummm!!!

If anyone saw the Cash and Treasures show on morel hunting, in the clip where the host is riding the school bus during the Boyne City Mushroom festival, my neighbor is in the seat directly behind her.

Those of us that are lucky enough to find and eat them have it made. Here in OR we have a wide variety of fungi, but remember, you MUST have a permit, no matter what type you find. A friend got caught at the coast with 1 sand pine. Lost the vehicle they were driving, DL, plus a $5,000 fine. They consider it a fed. offense here. I worked at a plce last year, were we cleaned and shipped matsetake (?) to China for $2,000 for a 2.2 lb. basket. INSANE!!!! :o

That show was on Wed. Gave me the fever. At least I think it was the morels, maybe it was Kirsten.
