i used to teach martial arts for 23 years, i always told my students to use tiger balm, and drink plenty of fluids, and give your muscles time to recoup.

Tiger Balm is EXCELLENT. I'd forgotten all about it. A little bit goes a loooong way, though. Rub too much into your skin at one time and it'll "light you up". The technique I was taught was to use just a thin layer on my finger and rub it into the muscle, then lay a cloth, soaking with water as hot as you can stand, on top of the area you just rubbed the balm into. The heat of the cloth will open the skin pores and drive the balm into the muscle. It works fast, too.

DMSO and aspirin...rub it on and the meds go directly to the muscles...use on horses...

can you even buy DMSO anymore , I havent seen any in years

Try the Villa park Pharmacy ;D
They sell needles, rock iodine (for thrush), worming meds, and a whole plethera of meds...look in equine/beef/hog/sheep department

Most health food stores sell it, at least in my area...also vet supplies in some feed & tack stores...

Also online...

I think I might have the best solution. I used to do this all the time (before I got lazy). Muscles will trap acids in your muscles from the workout (that's what I hear anyway). But the thing that works for me, is that you have to get right back up on that horse and workout again (with a lesser load). This will work out that acid and you'll feel a whole lot better. Trust me, it works.
Yeah I thought that was kinda weird, but that works for me.
I'm sore all the time except when I am working out.
My muscles are getting a lot less sore and I think I am gonna go out tomorrow and MD unless I have other plans that I forgot.

Ben Gay long? (Sorry, couldn't resist) Lots of good advice here. Mostly it's you need to warm up gradually before you start.
