Don't get frustrated when your not finding the goodies.

Not everyone finds goodies. I enjoy just getting out and discovering any thing I can about the place I search. Today for two hours I was looking for signs of a Military camp near a spring. I didn't find it yet but will keep looking. I did stumble on an old farmstead not to far from the springs. Here are tales of more to come I hope. Don't get discouraged just keep on searching. That one swing might sing out.

That buried cache is just around the corner Buddy. Is that an old lock piece I see? Any idea on the ornate piece in the upper left?

You're exactly right. Sometimes i've been skunked twice a week for most of a year to find a site. Sounds like the one you're after will more than make up for any frustration you might feel in the meantime.

Yes I could not find the rest of the lock. Nothing on the ornate piece pot metel. I did locate the well to the site but it was to late for me to hunt. I am going back in the morning. It was 8o today with a breeze. I bet if I had you out here you could find some goodies. Say hitch a ride with Wazari and come on out.

There all goodie's in my book .....Good call Doug on the shackle to the lock,definetley an oldie,also see a rivet or stud.You might be closer than you think Stan.Best of Luck at this site and hope you find it.The only time I get frustrated is when they're all pulltab's.

Getting skunked is normal. But the anticipation as you approach and old homestead makes up for it.

Alright! Looks like my kind of detecting! Always at the right spot...............Now that piece that looks like it belongs to a "chain saw"? What the heck is it really? I've fond a few. The ornate swirly piece? Is that the lock piece?

Wish I could have gotten out today.

The ornate piece Is probably part of a lantern, here is one I found.

I agree. Only thing that discourages me is a total lack of targets. And as you know you have to go to some remote places for that to happen.

I just found a complete lock with the top mechanism that looks like yours. From the stuff I found with it I date it from the 50's/60's. Yours could be older - I am by no means a lock expert.

I can honestly say, short of the concrete parking lot that BB wanted to hunt , I have NEVER been to a site and not had a target. Might be trash but never a totally sterile area.

Some people look at it like fishing. Some days you limit out and some you don't. Either way you had a fun day!!!!

I think of it as like being Christmas. You never know what you got until you open it up, it could be socks or it could be a shiny (fill in the blank)! I think I got enough socks
