it doesn't sound like you're describing it to be metal, but the same formation happens when molten metal forms a blob on a flat surface and begins to cool (an air pocket will form on the bottom side)

Got me :dontknow: Maybe a piece of molten slag that took on that shape before it cooled or a fossil of some ancient sea creature ???

Looks like a Thunder Egg that broke open before it had time to form internal crystals...

That's another term for a geode...volcanic spit balls

The outside appears to have a brassy tone that I assume is a lighting effect...clarify please
