Metal Detecting
Hello! Our first post here. This was dug up via metal detector on a 1683 property in Massachusetts. At various points over the centuries, the property was used as a tavern/boarding house, complete with blacksmith, farrier, 60-stall barn, etc. There was also a schoolhouse on the property at one time, and it is rumored that a Revolutionary War troop camped there, along a stream, which is now vernal. Anyway, attached are photos of an item we cannot identify and would love to hear your thoughts. It appears to be made of pewter and has the letter T on it, as well as a loop-type design.

Many thanks,

Lisa & John

Dave, Jude, and Steve, I bet you're right...just seems really thick for a bell (we've found a couple other intact bells that are thinner and lighter in color, and don't have a design or letter T on them). But I'm sure they made bells in different grades. This one was for a privileged horse owner, hehehee. Thanks for viewing and sharing your advice! Lisa & John
