I was detecting Saturday AM in Dundalk, which lies southeast of Baltimore, just outside the city. This target was down every bit of 9 inches and I thought it was a large cent at first. I did a search on the letters "M & C. C." and find that this may stand for Mayor and City Council. If so, this would be a tag issued in 1901 by the City of Baltimore.

My first guess on this was that it may an employee badge.

I know this is an obscure item, but appreciate your ideas.

Employees brass tag would be my guess also. They still use brass tags for mine worker and his employer i.d. number going in and out of the mine. There are two tags. One you keep on you and the other is hung on a in or out little hook call a brass board. It could also be tool check out tag. ?

Minelab Sov. Elite 5", 8" & 10" coils. EXP II 8" & 10" coils with inline Sunray pin pointer. AT Pro 8" & 10" Coils, Equinox 600 10" and 5" coils.
That tag was hanging around for a long time, look at the wear on the hole.
I like it!!

Thanks Bramblefind! Those two references confirm what the "M & C. C." stand for. A dog license makes sense.
