Dug this old knife the other day in an area with CW minie's and other items. Has anybody have one similar or has ever seen this style? Maybe CW period?

looks like the one my wife used on me when i took my metal detector to her parents house..
owg..

Looks like this could be a Surgical knife Kolbe Antique Civil War Surgical Set Most knifes from the 19th century and during civil war were more thick and heavier and had more of a style to them.. This could also just be a early 20th century knife. Hopefully someone can 100% ID it. :occasion14:

It looks to me like it is a regular old butter knife. I dont remember seeing surgical knives that big but if it is old they may have been this size.

Click on the link i posted in the above post, it is got examples of surgical knifes and ones that are bigger then this. I don''t think it is one but hard to say after 150 years.

This is not CW period.

Looks like a turn of the 1900's butter knife. Maybe check a Sears catalog? Have seen many before...

I thank everyone for their replys : Ill find out its origin in time ..Davers

CW era or not it's still a cool find!

THANK YALL 4 THE INFO ,

I think I got my answer. Today while cleaning some pennies close to where I dug the knife, I noted that all the cents were wheat's that dated from 1917-1940 also there was a button with a patent date of Dec 17 1924 .So I now bleve the 'butter knife to date ealry/mid 1900s. thank everyone for the replys .Davers:thumbsup:
