I am selling my childhood home and, before it goes, I decided to do a sweep looking for things I may have dropped/buried as a child. The house was built in 1946 and my parents bought it in 1952/53. It had been a duplex and my parents remodeled it into a nice 950 square foot house.
While I was searching, I got a good mixed-signal at considerable depth. The machine (EQ-600) showed 15/17 along with some iron content. I dug down about 12" and hit the first resistance which turned out to be a Mason jar with a very rusty lid. More digging turned up more glass including a non-remarkable medicine bottle that I would have tossed except my wife likes them. It also has a very rusty cap.
The most interesting piece I found was a distributor from a 1937 - 1941 Mercury/Ford. I told my wife about the dump pit and she is anxious to get back to the area and dig around some more. Looks like a good weekend coming up.
