Dumping

Does anyone do a lot of volume? This last Wednesday (two days ago,) I picked up a 10 box order of halves. I would like to start doing this amount or more every week. I used to do only a single box of halves a week, then slowly progressed to three boxes of halves about every other week. I have never CRHed more than four boxes at a time up until two days ago. My method of dumping was the free coin counter at my local credit union, there was never any problem. I called around various branches of this same credit union today (my main bank,) asking if I could bring the halves in a CoinLok $500 bag to have sent off, and the responses were not good. They basically want me to open a business account and then charge me to dump the coins. I tipped them off about the amount of coins I have, burning the bridge with my bank . I am almost certain everyone within the branches of my bank knows who I am now, and if I were to go and try to dump any amount I would most likely be told I can't dump there anymore without this business account. How should I go about dumping? Should I roll the coins up and deposit say $1000 at various branches of another bank? Thanks!

Don't get me wrong, I am always extremely courteous and polite to bank employees and would never do anything to negatively affect the relationship or put them in a position to inconvenience anyone. I didn't think four boxes worth would be out of the question to deposit in one sitting as a customer, as I told them I have, but they seem to seriously think otherwise. I was just curious to everyones dumping schedule and how they go about doing so.

Im not sure how many bank accounts you have but i recently opened 2 more in the past 2 weeks. Im also not sure about what area you are in, if there are a lot of banks close by then try opening some more accounts. For example i have 4 bank accounts. one is my ordering bank and one other i order from once in a while. the rest i use to drop off at. my area has tons of banks. i drive by about 15 banks on the way to work and i will drop off about 100 to 150 in rolled halves to a bunch of different ones. then i drop off a larger amount at a few td banks close by. This may seem a like a bit much but it really isnt if your in a area with a lot of banks. Try openeing a few more accounts if you can.

Its called communication, you need to talk to the vault teller and ask what method works best for taking in loose / rolled coin. What works best and causes them the least amount of work.
I dump all my halves at one bank 4-8k per week as long as they are in quantities of 1k on the spot. My bank is also a hometown bank, I walk in and 3 or 4 tellers call me by name that is what works for me dumping but that isnt how another poster here dumps maybe my method wont work for you.

You should talk to the people in your bank before you show up with 1k+ in halves wanting to exchange them. If you were a regular customer cashing in a change jar every 3 to 6 months then no big deal but we do a much larger volume than someones change jar multiple times a week.

Thanks Xiao. I do talk to all of the vault tellers and ask what works best. As I said I am always extremely careful to never put them in a position of inconvenience. This CU is definitely not made to receive even a couple hundred dollars in coin without charging unfortunately. Like mark said, time to open a few bank accounts!

My Friend, When you post something you will get some who will give thier opinion as you have requested.

You have went head over heals with silver in your eyes after reading some dream box finds here on the forums and decided to try to volume hunt before you had a dumping plan in place, you are now sitting on 5k in half dollars that you are finding hard to turn back into cash asking for advice on how to dump. No one is saying what you did was wrong, what you did was bit off a little more than you were ready to chew on.

Good luck finding a good dump bank or 2 or 3 in your area and getting this plan set into place so thay you can volume hunt to the level you want to.

Thank you Xiao. I ordered that many boxes because I wanted to see what kind of results it would produce. You are completely right about me biting off more than I can chew without having dump banks set up, extremely stupid of me to do. I didn't know that this whole ordeal was going to happen with my CU dump bank, especially over such a "not out of the question request." I'll let you know what happens on Monday.

If I only had 1 CU for dumping $500 to $1,500 a week (and probably getting dirty looks), of course I would up my order to 10 boxes without having a solid dumping strategy in place. Makes perfect sense.

This thread seems like a "feeler" for info to me. Not even the stupidest of CRHers would bump up to 5K in halves without knowing how they were going to turn it over, let a lone someone that's been doing 1 to 3 boxes a week for a few weeks now.

If you want info/advice just ask for it.

I go to dump at four different branches, all of which have a free coin counter. There was never any problem and everyone was happy to help me. What I did wrong was call around to those four branches asking if I could bring the coins in a $500 FV bag, and have them sent off to be counted. I informed them that I had 4 boxes worth, and I already know where I ****ed up.

I have been doing this for about two years now off at some points and back on again, not just a few weeks. Like I said earlier in the thread, I didn't think a problem would arise like this. Thanks for the demeaning response, good job!

EDIT: I go through three boxes of halves a week. I have four dump banks that I use. I dump $250 FV at a time.

I am happy to report that I have all of my dump banks set up. I told them what I would be bringing in and how often, and they have absolutely no problem with it. The only stipulation is that all of the coins will have to be rolled at one of these banks. This dump will be spread over 6 branches of two different banks. One has a free coin counter, the other will require the halves to be rolled. Obviously I'm going to want to dump more at the coin counters, everyone there is ****ing chill.

So, did you find anything in those boxes?

The bank ordered them today, they will all be here on Wednesday. I will definitely post what I find with pictures in a new thread once I go through them all.

Edit: For anyone who might care I did order 4 boxes from 5 different branches instead of 20 from one branch to try and keep the inconvenience for both the armored car company and the bank down.

I dump 40 to 50 boxes most weeks and i now have o problems. Its so easy i can now do 80 boxes with out any problem!!!!!!! If i want!!

TimZim I wish I could get banks to accept $500 FV bags without being charged like you, but unfortunately I haven't got that far yet. I can get them to accept $500 FV bags with a business account (fees,) and then another fee per bag ontop of that, but that is just out of the question and is not going to happen. Lucky!

If I could swing this I would be able to easily multiply my volume by ten-fold. Havent asked at the right places I guess.

I just found the right BRANCH to do it for free!!Others said there would charge.It came down to making friends. A few gift cards.They ordered me 500 bags and got the labels.Now i have 3 branches that i can drop off any time. I do about 8 or 9 bags at a time. It takes about 5 min.. To make it fast i have them put the money right in my acct. The only thing is i don't get as much funny money!! But more silver. From doing more boxes.
