🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Eagle Belt Buckle without banner

I found this Eagle Belt plate here on the Virginia peninsula that has no Epluribus Unum banner. Searched everywhere on net to identify. Could it be Confederate as it does not have the banner?

The interweb says it's an officer's buckle. The lack of a banner only makes it cooler and confirms it's authenticity.

I don't know. The eagle doesn't strike me as U.S. I could be way off but to me it just looks wrong for a U.S. or C.S. officer's buckle. I've just been looking at U.S. buckles, prewar and Civil War. I haven't seen anything close.

I’m not a buckle expert, and can’t see back or sides, but that looks pressed, not cast. Not sure what that says of age/authenticity…..just saying

OP said it was found on the Virginia Peninsula. I agree it looks like a European eagle. It's too rigid looking for U.S. Also looks like it's grasping on arrows with no olive branch. Also agree with you, looks pressed without seeing the reverse.

In my opinion the upper right hand corner of the pic shows its pressed.

….also, reason I asked for more specific locations…..there are a lot of peninsulas in va.

Also, where the two pieces are broken out on the left. Wish I could see the shield more clearly. Looks like there is something on it, but I just can't see what.

Not a belt buckle, it appears to match the small "plaques" on these canisters, I also found at least 3 other sets of these exact canisters on eBay.

Exactly….its thin. Broken like the front of a 2 piece button will do.

You guys are so smart Thanks. So it is not worth anything? I am here in Hampton VA but used to live in Tabb, VA on Old Yorktown Road. Most of this was taken back in the late 70's to Mid-80's before I had to move to North VA. I will be posting more as I am trying to get this out to collectors before I take the last bus ride out of Hampton. Got six grown sons with no interest in this stuff. I lie on Grandview Island and have taken a lot out of here as well. So here is my next that I will post on finds.

I’d start a new thread for each item if I were you. And just guessing without a side/back pic first thing that pops to mind is the tongue of a naval 2-piece buckle
