Since the new format was instituted i can't find some old posts so would someone please refresh my memory on this eagle button. I think it is a civilian fashion button but can't find any reference to it.

Hey Fyrffytr1, It sure looks like a Confederate Naval button, similar but not identical to CSN272A1 in Tice's book, (or Albert's CS 119.) Some of or button experts will hopefully comment for you. Happy Hunting, Subterranean

Hello fyrffytr1. Thank you much for the help on my old Great Seal button backmark thread.

Im sorry your button may be old but its looks like a civilian fashion design still made today. The rounded wings and rusted back are signs of civilian use. I dont know how to search or post images but try searching the old threads with keys works "navy motiff", button.

You should give us 5 minutes to edit, correct spelling and such.

BCH,
Thanks for the reply. The button is not mine and I also think it is civilian but can't find the threads that talked about it. I'll try a search and see if anything comes up.

Looks very similar to one I found today in my yard. Mine has a rusted back as well
